ever needed to test a filesystem in a sandbox environment without mucking with other machines? here's a couple of ways to make a blank file of know size... *YMMV depending on the flavor of unix your using. check man pages for flavor specific options, the following has been tested with solaris and osx. |

everytime i think of tar pipe i imagine some sticky black ooze covered pipe, but really, of course i'm actually referring to tar with a redirect... like skinning a cat, it's nice to know more than one way to accomplish a task, and tar pipe is just one of those things. it will allow you to copy directories and files intact. |
